Fairway’s #EatLocal to #SupportLocal Campaign

With hospitality opening up and striving to get back to serving great meals again we looked at how we could continue to help our customers and the industry at large.

Caterers are undeniably doing their best to ensure they are fully prepared to make customers happy, but the hospitality rules have changed. At present we have limited outdoor seating areas, distancing at bars, face masks and polite smiles from a distance. These changes represent high costs to businesses. While a national chain may better absorb these, they have a considerable impact on the bottom line for smaller independents. Limited menus and food variations have been one of the notable factors surrounding the recent eating out experience.

With all this going on, we took the initiative to launch an #EatLocal campaign in support of our local hospitality businesses and their communities.  The campaign aims to encourage the public to make the local pub, restaurant and café their first choice for eating out.

Bringing business back to the local community, helping caterers get back to work and offering extensive menus is something we would love to help achieve.

Key message

Local pubs, restaurants and cafés support your community and keep it healthy not just through local employment but also by supporting local businesses from butchers, bakeries, florists, local wholesalers and many more. As we get back to business, choosing to support your local establishments gives a much-needed lifeline so #EatLocal and #SupportLocal where you can.

What we’re doing…

The core of the campaign was a social media film welcoming back foodservice and encouraging the public to #EatLocal. We went on to create branded films for our wholesaler members and also included a selection of their customers to make it personal.

The campaign was supported with articles from our consulting chefs on the benefits of eating locally and the positive impact it has on communities. There are also related articles for chefs on keeping the customer experience alive and not drastically chopping down menus.

#EatLocal, #SupportLocal and spread the word how great your experience was. Our community businesses need us more than ever.
